The Chessology software is quick and easy to install.
However, before you start, and if you have not already done so, make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for this software.
You may not be able to install the program if your computer does not meet these minimum requirements.
Installing Chessology should take no more than a couple of minutes, less if you are already experienced in installing software.
You will need about 1 MB of spare capacity on your hard-disk drive in order to install the software. This should be easy to achieve as it is less than the capacity of a floppy disk - the Chessology software takes up very little space on your computer.
During installation, only two files are copied to your hard disk, one executable file and one text file containing a standard End-User License Agreement. The total size of these two files is about 1 MB.
The Chessology program itself is completely stand-alone; it makes no changes to your operating system, it does not read or write to the registry, it does not create or write to other files, and it does not access the Internet unless by user request.
During the installation process, you can cancel the installation at any time, and no files will be copied to your computer. It is also very easy to uninstall the software once it is fully installed.
Note: The example screenshots used in the following steps are from a Windows 2000 version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. If you are installing to Windows XP or Windows Vista, the windows may look different. However, the steps will be very similar.
If you downloaded the Chessology setup file to a folder on your computer, double-click on the setup file to start the installation program.
Alternatively, if you selected to run the setup program directly from your Internet browser, then the installation program should already have started.
After a short delay, you will see this welcome message. Just click on the Next button to continue.
This window allows you to read the End-User License Agreement associated with this software.
If you do not agree to the terms of the license agreement, just click on the No button and then confirm in the following message box that you really want to quit the installation. No files will be copied to your computer and the installation program will finish. There is no need to continue reading the rest of this guide.
If you agree to the terms of the license agreement and want to install the software, just click on the Yes button to continue with the installation.
Note: The license agreement is also copied to your hard-disk as part of the installation process, so you will also be able to read it later; the file is called license.txt and resides in the folder selected in the next step below.
if you clicked on the Yes button in Step 3 above, the next window allows you to select the destination folder on your hard-disk drive; this is the folder to which the software will be installed.
A default destination folder is supplied and most people use this; however, you can click on the Browse button if you want to select a different destination folder.
Then, just click on the Next button to continue.
This window allows you to select a program folder on the Start menu of your computer, where the Chessology icon will be located. A suitable default is supplied and most people use this; however, you may type in a different folder name if you wish.
For example, if you choose the default folder, your Start menu will ultimately contain two new items similar to the following, once the installation is complete.
Click on the Next button to continue.
This window informs you that the installation program is now ready to start copying the files to your computer and complete the installation.
You can click on the Cancel button if you do not want to complete the installation.
Otherwise, just click on the Next button to complete the installation.
The installation program starts to install the software.
This window appears for the duration while the installation program is copying the files to your computer. This process should only take about 10 to 20 seconds on a typical computer.
You can click on the Cancel button at any time to cancel the installation.
Otherwise, just wait until the installation process is finished and the next window appears.
This window finally appears once the installation process is completed.
Just click on the Finish button to close the window and terminate the installation program.
